Ambassador Ingrīda Levrence assumes office to bolster European security and cooperation

Ambassador Ingrīda Levrence has officially taken over as Latvia’s top diplomat in Vienna, representing Latvian interests in the Republic of Austria. A distinguished Europe expert with extensive international experience, Ambassador Levrence enters her role during a period of significant regional transformation. In an official ceremony held at Riga Castle prior to her arrival in Vienna, President Edgars Rinkēvičs presented Ambassador Levrence with her credentials, marking the start of her mission to enhance Latvia's diplomatic presence in Central Europe. Levrence brings a wealth of experience from the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she most recently served as the Under-Secretary of State for European Affairs. Her background includes significant postings as Ambassador to Georgia and the People’s Republic of China, providing her with a unique perspective on global affairs.
The Ambassador's arrival coincides with increased cooperation between Austria and the Baltic states, particularly following high-level visits that highlighted shared security concerns at the EU’s external borders.
