Kuwait Marks 65 Years of Independence and 35 Years of Liberation in Berlin
Diplomatic reception at the Ritz-Carlton highlights cultural dialogue and international cooperation

The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Berlin commemorated the 65th anniversary of Kuwait’s independence and the 35th anniversary of its liberation during a diplomatic reception held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Berlin on 9 February 2026. The event brought together ambassadors, diplomats, institutional representatives, and members of the international community to celebrate Kuwait’s national milestones and its longstanding international partnerships.
The evening was organized under the patronage of H.E. Reem Mohammad Alkhaled, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Germany, and served as a platform for diplomatic exchange and cultural engagement. Representatives from diplomatic missions across Berlin attended the celebration, reflecting the importance of intercultural dialogue and international cooperation in the German capital.
Among the distinguished guests were Amb. Ahmed Waheeb Maaz Ahmed Alattar, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Germany; Amb. Adia Sakiqi-Vandecasteele, Ambassador of Albania to Germany; Amb. Wacef Chiha, Ambassador of Tunisia to Germany; Amb. Adriana-Loreta Stănescu, Ambassador of Romania to Germany; Amb. Gordan Bakota, Ambassador of Croatia to Germany; and Youmna Osman, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Egypt in Berlin.
The ICD Academy also participated in the event and highlighted the role of diplomatic and cultural institutions in fostering international understanding. According to the organizers, the reception provided an opportunity to honor Kuwait’s historical achievements while strengthening professional and diplomatic ties among representatives of different countries and institutions based in Berlin.
During the evening, participants exchanged views in a collegial setting that emphasized mutual respect, regional dialogue, and cultural diplomacy. The reception further illustrated Berlin’s role as an international diplomatic hub hosting events that promote intercultural cooperation and bilateral relations.
The commemoration formed part of Kuwait’s national celebrations observed annually by Kuwaiti diplomatic missions worldwide in recognition of the country’s independence in 1961 and liberation in 1991.
