Annually, Berlin’s signature square, Alexanderplatz, becomes a portal to the cultural richness of Africa, as arts, crafts, dance, and theatre from the continent are presented during the Kenako Africa Festival.

The 2024 edition will take place from the 23rd of August to the 1st of September with a diverse entertainment program.

Visitors can buy handmade artwork, clothing, cosmetics, and culinary treats from all corners of Africa, while also having the opportunity to enjoy traditional and contemporary African music, dance and theatre performances.

The program also includes a variety of workshops, readings, film screenings and discussion rounds on topics such as decolonization and economic development.

There is even a fashion show included in the agenda, where the Togo label “YOBI Design” will present some of its clothing.

The festival is open from 10am to 10pm every day.

It is organized with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The full program is available at https://www.kenako-festival.de/.
