Japanese artist Natsuki Oshiro presents her solo exhibition From the Boat Drifting Past a Forest of Stars at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, marking the culmination of her ongoing exploration of transformation and translation across artistic forms. Her multidisciplinary practice intertwines literature, garden architecture, and semiotics, unfolding through a process in which poems, landscapes and structures are deconstructed into patterns, reshaped into sculptural modules, and reimagined as paintings.

The exhibition reveals the final stage of this metamorphosis—where each work subtly contains the memory of another. Drawing inspiration from Japanese poetic and garden traditions, Oshiro creates symbolic environments in soft geometric color fields that invite viewers into a contemplative dialogue of perception and meaning. Her installations explore how form, language, and memory continuously evolve through cycles of transformation.

Natsuki Oshiro’s residency and exhibition are supported by the Agency for Cultural Affairs of the Government of Japan.
