The showing of the film will be preceded by an introduction by the Artemisia as-sociation, dedicated to helping Italian and italo-Germna based in Germany with members affected by disabilities. The film will then be followed by a Q&A session with the main actress Carolina Raspanti.

The film Dafne, which will be shown at the Italian Cinema in Berlin, CineDě, presents an extremely innovative plot, embedded in themes that are important to tackle in contemporary society. The film is in fact based on the story of Dafne, a 35 year-old woman, extremely content with her job and with her life in general. Dafne is affected by the Down syndrome and she lives with her parents, Luigi and Maria. Her mother’s sudden death affects Dafne quite negatively, as she has to both deal with the mourning personally, while supporting her father, who has become extremely depressed. Dafne thus needs to try and cheer her father up, with little to no success, until one day, something unexpected happens: they travel to Maria’s home town, in the mountains, and they discover each other more deeply than ever before.

The film has won the FIPRESCI prize at the Berlinale -69, in the Panorama section. The film will be introduced by the Artemisia association, which aims at helping Italian families living in Germany who have members affected by disabilities, and it will be followed by a Q&A session with the main actress Carolina Raspanti. The showing of the film will be an important occasion to discover Italian culture while reflecting on extremely important themes.
