Italian Embassy Launches Innovation Ecosystem Event Ahead of GITEX Europe
Event at the Italian Embassy promoting cooperation with Germany on innovation and technology
May 22nd, 2025Italian Embassy hosted the event “Italian Innovation Ecosystem – Shaping the future in Berlin“ prior to the opening of GITEX Europe, to foster startups’ growth and technological innovation.
“Italian Innovation Ecosystem – Shaping the future in Berlin“ was held as a prelude to Italy’s participation in GITEX Europe 2025. GITEX Europe is the European edition of GITEX Global, a major technology and startup event aiming to drive digital transformation by bringing together tech innovators, government leaders, and industry giants. The GITEX Europe 2025 took place at Messe Berlin from May 21 to 23, 2025.
As one of the largest tech gatherings in Europe with over 2,500 exhibitors and 1,500 startups from more than 100 countries, the event covers transformative technology fields spanning AI, Big Data, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Digital Cities, Green Technology, Quantum Computing, and Web 3.0.
As a kick-off to GITEX Europe 2025, the “Italian Innovation Ecosystem – Shaping the future in Berlin” event, hosted at the Italian Embassy, welcomed over 140 startups, incubators, venture capital, and consulting companies. It was organized with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, by the Italian Tech Alliance and Italian Trade Agency, along with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany (ITKAM) and Künstliche Intelligenz Entrepreneurship Zentrum (K.I.E.Z.).
The event provided an opportunity to strengthen partnerships between Germany and Italy in the fields of innovation, technological and venture capital field, highlighting the complementary strength of both nations. Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci stated at the beginning of the event that “Italy boasts a dynamic and fast-growing start-up ecosystem, a world-class research landscape, and a long tradition of creative engineering.
Germany brings its industrial scale, technological strength, and solid capital infrastructure. These forces complement each other, and when we combine them, they form a powerful engine for growth, resilience, and change”. His remarks underscored Italy’s ambition to position itself alongside Germany as European leaders in innovation.
Beyond networking, the gathering signaled both countries’ shared commitment to positioning their startups at the forefront of Europe’s innovation agenda. The following day, the Italian Trade Agency took part in GITEX Europe 2025, showcasing 12 Italian startups and encouraging new collaborations across the European tech landscape.
