The Embassy of the Philippines in Berlin hosted a visit for participants of an International Learning Course on Public Policy and Public Sector Leadership, led by Ambassador Irene Susan Natividad. Among the visitors were Ma. Antoniette P. Aristoza, Director of the Plenary Affairs Bureau of the Senate of the Philippines, along with 25 course participants.

The visit was part of the program's objective to explore Germany’s strategies in policy-making, legislation, governance, and leadership from a Philippine perspective.

Participants gained insight into the differences in legislative processes and approaches to public sector challenges between the Philippines and Germany. The visit also offered a glimpse into how both countries identify emerging trends and the competencies required of legislative staff and public policy managers.

The course was jointly developed by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) and the Hertie School in Berlin, forming part of the Emerging Leaders’ Track of the Capability Building on Innovative Leadership for Legislative Staff (CBILLS). During the visit, Director Gilbert Lumantao of DAP’s Policy Research Office presented the CBILLS-ILC program to Ambassador Natividad. Additionally, Minister and Consul Mary Luck Hicarte of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs provided an overview of Philippine-German bilateral relations.

Held within the framework of the 70th anniversary of Philippine-German diplomatic relations, the event contributed to fostering mutual understanding and appreciation of cultural differences between the two societies.
