ICD Organized a Seminar on “Peace in South Asia”

Promoted a message of peace among the students of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy for building social cohesion through cultural diplomacy

The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) organized a seminar on “Peace in South Asia in collaboration with the Pakistan’s Embassy on October 17, 2017 in the premises of Institute of ICD Berlin.

Apart from the dignitaries from Pakistan, the Seminar was attended by the students and staff members of ICD. The event provided opportunity to achieve the mission and goal of ICD for promoting global peace and stability by strengthening and supporting intercultural relations at all levels. H.E Ambassador of Pakistan, Jauhar Saleem provided the brief overview about the challenges faced by the country which hampers the progress and prosperity of the country with particular focus on the unresolved dispute of Jammu and Kashmir. He also highlighted some of the human rights violations incidents which occurred in Jummu and Kashmir. He also added a peaceful solution of this problem in the light of UN resolution and the aspirations of the people of Kashmir. All these measures will lead towards promoting effective environment in a country for ensuring peace and stability in the South Asian region.

The Ambassador further highlighted the consequences along with the menace of terrorism and also suggested some solid frame work for way forward based on the regional cooperation required between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Although Pakistan has suffered heavy loss, however, despite the conflict and continuing instability in Afghanistan that has been an impediment to regional peace and development, Pakistan has achieved progress and significant improvement in the country’s overall security landscape in the recent years. He also provided light on the new initiative of CPEC which will serve as a long way for building close relationships with China and will serve as a focal point for building regional growth and prosperity. Thereafter interactive question/answer session was convened with the students to address their queries and apprehensions related to diplomacy efforts solicited under the present scenario for addressing counter terrorism efforts on the part of GoP. In addition the ICD students and staff enjoyed Pakistani cuisine which was served at the end of occasion.
