Harmonious Encounter of Modern B-Boying and Traditional Korean Music

Deepening understanding and expanding the interest in Korean culture in Germany

On July 8, 2019, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Bum-goo Jong had lunch together with the world famous Korean B-Boy crew Fusion-MC and the Dong Rak Traditional Performing Arts Group. Both groups visited Germany as part of the Korea Festival, hosted by the Korea Foundation and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

H.E. Ambassador Jong stressed that this event, which took place in Berlin from 8 to 10 July 2019 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall in November, makes a special contribution to deepening understanding and expanding the interest in Korean culture. He congratulated the harmonious performance of the teams, and the successful organization of the Korea Foundation.

On the 8th of July, a B-Boying workshop was held at the Flying Steps Academy. The joint performance of Fusion-MC and Dong rak on 10 July in Heimathafen Neukölln was sold out and a complete success. RBB TV wrote a live report and Inforadio published a review. These events were a welcome occasion to present the German audience a new side to the diverse Korean culture.
