GERMAN EMBASSY COLABORATED ON A CAMPAIGN TO PROMOTE GERMAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
A week-long initiative #ShoutOutForGerman
February 03rd, 2026The embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in partnership with the Goethe-Institut UK and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), organized the 2026 edition of the social media campaign #ShoutOutForGerman, running from 19 to 24 January 2026. This collaborative initiative seeks to showcase the vibrancy of German language learning and engagement across the UK, recognise the dedication of educators, learners and cultural advocates, and further reinforce the deep cultural ties between Germany and the United Kingdom.
Throughout the campaign, students, teachers, language enthusiasts and cultural practitioners across the UK shared personal experiences and perspectives related to learning and using the German language. By contributing posts, images and videos under the campaign hashtag and engaging with the German Embassy London online, participants showcased the diversity and creativity of German language engagement, reflecting a strong and active community committed to intercultural dialogue.
The #ShoutOutForGerman campaign formed part of the Embassy’s broader “Making the case for German” initiative, which aimed to enhance the visibility and appreciation of German language education in the UK. Building on the success of the inaugural campaign held in 2025, the 2026 edition achieved increased reach and engagement, further demonstrating the continued relevance of German language learning within educational, cultural and professional contexts.
The German Embassy, the Goethe-Institut UK and DAAD reaffirmed through this campaign their shared commitment to promoting language learning, academic cooperation and cultural exchange. By celebrating the achievements and enthusiasm of learners and educators nationwide, the campaign contributed to strengthening long-standing cultural ties and fostering enduring people-to-people connections between Germany and the United Kingdom.
