Galerie Sievi Meets Asia: A Harmonious Blend of Poetry and Meditation
An Exhibition Featuring Contemporary Artworks from Taiwan and Japan
July 16th, 2024Galerie Sievi proudly presents "Galerie Sievi Meets Asia: Between Poetry and Meditation," an exquisite exhibition showcasing the artworks of four contemporary artists from Taiwan and Japan: Jenna Chang, Linna Chi, Yumiko Umeda, and Juju Kurihara. This exhibition delves into themes of poetry, dance, music, meditation, dreams, and nature, creating a serene and reflective artistic experience.
Jenna Chang's "Secret Garden Series" features a mesmerizing collection of female sculptures, each embedded with steps, symbolizing journeys within. In her "Mythical Forest Series," the sculptures are adorned with angel wings, transforming them into ethereal beings. For Jenna Chang, sculptures are akin to "poems without words," silently narrating profound stories through their forms.
Linna Chi's abstract paintings focus on the exploration of light in its various intensities. Drawing inspiration from the landscape paintings of the Tang Dynasty, Chi skillfully integrates these historical elements into her contemporary compositions. Her work captures the essence of light, reflecting the changing moods and atmospheres it creates.
The exhibition also highlights textile artworks created through a unique collaboration between textile artist Yumiko Umeda and calligrapher Juju Kurihara. These pieces, showcased in a gallery setting for the first time, blend Umeda's intricate textile designs with Kurihara's expressive calligraphy, resulting in a harmonious fusion of visual and textual art.
Curated by Dr. Rania Sid Otmane, the exhibition invites viewers to embark on a journey through the intertwined worlds of poetry, meditation, and nature. Each artwork serves as a portal to a deeper understanding of these themes, encouraging contemplation and introspection.
