The Institut français Germany is celebrating Franco-German Day 2024 for a whole week from January 22nd with a rich cultural program, both with face-to-face events and online. The "German-French Day" was introduced on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty, the Franco-German friendship treaty, and is now one of the pillars of educational and cultural cooperation in Germany.

The German-French Day throughout Germany

The Internet team competition, which was launched in 2003, is taking on a nationwide dimension this year with the participation of 14 federal states. Between December 1, 2023 and January 22, 2024, more than 30,000 students from grade 5 onwards fill out a questionnaire. This project, which is clearly focused on France, Europe and the Francophonie, aims to motivate students to learn the French language through an attractive digital tool and encourage them to open up to Francophone cultures and Europe, as well as promote European educational mobility. Fluency in French is not a prerequisite for participation.
