Fourth Celebration of Persian Language and Culture in Vienna

Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan Embassies unite to honor a shared heritage of literature, art and tradition

On 11 September 2025, the Embassies and Permanent Missions of Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan, in collaboration with Society Magazine Austria, hosted the Fourth Celebration of Persian Language and Culture in Vienna. The event once again highlighted Persian as a shared cultural capital, binding nations and generations through its enduring legacy.

Ambassadors, diplomats, cultural figures and representatives of international organizations gathered to celebrate the richness of Persian heritage. The evening featured literary reflections, artistic performances and exhibitions, showcasing the historical, artistic and intellectual treasures that unite Persian-speaking nations.

In her keynote speech, Lady Manijeh Bakhtari, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Afghanistan, emphasized the depth of Persian as more than a language: “This evening is not only a celebration of a language, but a commemoration of a civilization. Persian is a treasure of philosophy, spirituality, and art, a bridge across borders and generations that connects people in a shared cultural world.

The program featured musical performances and art displays from Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Iran, offering audiences a vivid experience of the cultural ties among the three nations. Guests were also invited to enjoy traditional cuisine, symbolizing unity and empathy across borders.

By combining literature, art, music and culinary traditions, the Fourth Celebration of Persian Language and Culture reaffirmed the enduring power of Persian heritage as an investment in friendship, cultural understanding and the closeness of nations.
