European Film Festival: 19-26 February 2026
European Film Festival organised by EU cultural institutes and embassies in Vienna
February 03rd, 2026From 19 to 26 February 2026, Vienna will once again host the European Film Festival. The event is organised for the third time by the network of National Cultural Institutes and Embassies of the European Union in Austria, EUNIC Austria, and will take place at Stadtkino Wien.
During the festival, 20 participating countries will present their latest cinema productions, offering a broad spectrum of artistic expression as well as reflections on Europe’s past, present, and future. The festival provides a platform for European cinema in the Austrian capital and highlights the diversity of contemporary film-making across Europe.
In line with the objectives of EUNIC Austria, the European Film Festival promotes cultural diversity and cultural understanding through a varied and stimulating selection of films from each participating country. The programme brings together a range of distinctive and noteworthy works that represent different cinematic perspectives and traditions.
The films are intended to encourage debate and dialogue and to appeal to both occasional cinema-goers and dedicated cinephiles. Presented in a friendly and non-competitive setting, they do not seek to provide definitive answers but rather invite individual and collective reflection, particularly in a period characterised by change and uncertainty.
Curated by Neil Young, the European Film Festival will take place from 19 to 26 February 2026 at Stadtkino Wien, reaffirming Vienna’s role as a meeting point for European cultural exchange through cinema.
