Art evokes emotions. The relationship between different cultures is usually worked through positive feelings, enjoyment and laughter. But sometimes sorrow and anguish is stronger to bind people together, as it allows people to show the real feelings and connect with each other by empathy.

The ongoing art exhibition in Galleri Heike Arndt DK in Berlin, “DIS cover TRUST” presents the work of two internationally known artists, Heike Ruschmeyer from Germany and Heike Arndt from Denmark. The art exhibition is open from April 6th to May 28th 2016 in Friedrichshain, Berlin. The art of both artists pictures of emotions from the darker side.

Heike Ruschmeyer defines herself as a documentary painter as her work in the exhibition pictures crime scenes. Her aim is to remember the victims and bring their existence back to society, even if only briefly as an emotional flashback. In addition to this, Heike Arndt’s work also revolves around emotions, especially around empathy.

Galleri Heike Arndt DK is a Berlin branch of a Danish gallery and it has been open since 2008. The gallery focuses on the collaboration between Nordic and German contemporary artists and curators, other galleries, institution and museums. Painters, sculptors, lithographer from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Finland have the opportunity to present their artwork to German viewers and art lovers. The Gallery is a non-profit organization and they offer an internship position to everyone who is looking for opportunity to gain experience arranging exhibitions and working in museums.

Galleri Heike Arndt DK is also a social meeting point for Scandinavians to meet and share the experience living in Berlin. People are welcomed to come and talk every first Wednesday of the month, except in January and August. The gallery offers an opportunity for visitors to see East Berlin’s mixed architecture of old and new, in a form of a guided walk tour around Friedrichshain.
