Ambassador Stephen Mubiru officiates Uganda Economic Forum with Austrian partners
March 09th, 2026The Embassy of Uganda supported a high-level economic dialogue in Vienna aimed at strengthening bilateral engagement. Stephen Mubiru, Head of Mission, officiated as Chief Guest at the Uganda Economic Forum held in Vienna. The forum was organized in conjunction with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and brought together stakeholders from Austria and Uganda to examine investment opportunities, reinforce trade relations, and deepen bilateral economic cooperation.
The forum convened distinguished members of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the business communities from both countries, and the Austrian Ambassador to Uganda (non-resident). The gathering provided a valuable platform for dialogue, networking, and the exchange of ideas, supporting the development of sustainable partnerships between Austrian and Ugandan stakeholders.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Mubiru highlighted Uganda’s strategic role as a gateway to the East African market. He emphasized the country’s favorable investment environment, abundant natural resources, and ongoing infrastructure development. Priority sectors identified for potential Austrian investment and cooperation included agro-processing, energy, tourism, manufacturing, information and communication technology, and mineral development.
Ambassador Mubiru also reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to maintaining an enabling environment for foreign investors through policy reforms, investment protection frameworks, and strengthened public–private partnerships. He encouraged Austrian enterprises to explore opportunities in Uganda, noting the country’s young and skilled workforce, expanding regional market access, and stable macroeconomic outlook. Participants engaged in constructive discussions on trade facilitation, technology transfer, industrial cooperation, and value addition.
The Uganda Economic Forum concluded with renewed optimism and a shared commitment to translating dialogue into concrete investments and long-term partnerships that will benefit both countries, further reinforcing bilateral engagement through economic cooperation and cultural diplomacy.
