H.E. Juraj Macháč is a highly experienced Slovak diplomat who has dedicated his career to representing the Slovak Republic across Europe and within major multilateral organizations. A graduate of the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), he entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the early 1990s, just as Slovakia was establishing its independent foreign policy. Over the decades, Ambassador Macháč has held several prominent roles, including serving as Slovakia's Ambassador to Iceland, Norway, and later Romania. He has also held critical positions within the Ministry in Bratislava, notably as the Director of the Department for Common Foreign and Security Policy. In late 2024, he assumed his current role as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany. Known for his deep expertise in European security, bilateral trade, and regional cooperation, his tenure in Berlin focuses heavily on strengthening the vital economic ties between Slovakia and Germany, driving automotive and technological partnerships, and navigating shared European Union policies.
