On 19 February 2026 at 7:00 PM, the Brâncuși exhibition officially opens at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. From 20 March to 9 August 2026, the museum will host the largest retrospective dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși in Germany in decades, organised in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The exhibition presents more than 150 works, including sculptures, photographs, films and archival documents drawn from international collections.

A key feature of the exhibition is a partial reconstruction of Brâncuși’s Paris studio, presented outside France for the first time and offering visitors a unique insight into the artist’s creative environment. The exhibition also includes artworks provided by Romanian institutions, including the National Museum of Art of Romania and the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant. Their contributions highlight that Brâncuși was not only an internationally acclaimed artist but also a Romanian creator whose cultural heritage influenced his artistic vision.

The exhibition is held under the joint patronage of Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, and Nicușor Dan, President of Romania. It is organised in partnership with the Embassy of Romania in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin.

A complementary programme of lectures and cultural events accompanies the exhibition and is organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute through its Berlin branch, the Rumänisches Kulturinstitut “Titu Maiorescu.” These activities further explore the artistic legacy and historical significance of Brâncuși’s work.

Taking place in the year marking the 150th anniversary of Constantin Brâncuși’s birth, the exhibition offers an opportunity to honour his achievements and renew the European dialogue surrounding his artistic legacy. In Romania, 2026 has been declared the “Year of Brâncuși,” underscoring his national importance and highlighting the role of artistic heritage in fostering international understanding through cultural diplomacy.
