“Gandhi Lives” highlights the relevance of truth and non-violence in today’s world
October 21st, 2025On the 25th of September the Embassy of India in Berlin, in collaboration with The Tagore Centre, hosted a special screening of the acclaimed documentary “Gandhi Lives”, honoring the enduring influence and universal message of Mahatma Gandhi.
Produced by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT India) and directed by Aruna Har Prasad, the film offers a thought-provoking exploration of Gandhi’s principles of truth (Satya) and non-violence (Ahimsa) — values that remain profoundly relevant in contemporary society.
Through compelling narratives and modern-day examples, “Gandhi Lives” illustrates how Gandhian ideals continue to shape diverse fields — from agriculture and medicine to law and sustainable development. The documentary highlights institutions such as the National Agro Foundation and Gandhigram Trust, which carry forward his philosophy of self-reliance and service to humanity.
The event brought together diplomats, scholars, and friends of India for an evening of reflection on Gandhi’s influence and his continuing resonance in today’s world. As a global symbol of peace and the moral force behind India’s freedom movement, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi remains an inspiration across generations. The screening encouraged audiences—especially younger viewers unfamiliar with his lifetime—to rediscover the relevance of his teachings in addressing modern challenges.
