During the ceremony, Armenia’s Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Viktor Yengibaryan, emphasized the conscious choice of the Armenian people to live freely, independently, and with dignity. He highlighted that independent statehood represents not only national security but also a commitment to democracy, sovereignty, and a culture of peaceful living. The Ambassador noted that the recently initialed Washington agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan signals a shift toward peace and offers new opportunities for the region and the European Union.

Niklas Wagner, the German Foreign Ministry’s Special Representative for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, addressed the audience on behalf of the German government. He praised the trilateral efforts in Washington and reiterated Germany’s commitment, alongside European and U.S. partners, to supporting Armenia in the normalization of relations with Azerbaijan. Wagner stressed that lasting peace requires time and careful negotiation, drawing lessons from Germany’s own history of reconciliation with its neighbors.

The reception provided a platform to reinforce bilateral relations, political dialogue, and cooperation across multiple sectors between Armenia and Germany. The Embassy expressed appreciation for the support of the TUMO Center in hosting the event and reaffirmed Armenia’s dedication to fostering international partnerships and dialogue.
