Ecuadorian Art in Berlin 2025: “La forma en el flujo” by Eduardo Flores Abad
When art becomes diplomacy: Ecuador and Germany connect through movement, transformation, and cultural dialogue
October 21st, 2025This autumn, the Embassy of Ecuador in Germany will become a meeting point between art, culture, and diplomacy with the opening of “La forma en el flujo” (“The Form in the Flow”), a solo exhibition by Ecuadorian artist Eduardo Flores Abad, scheduled to inaugurate on October 14, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Embassy in Berlin and to remain open to the public until December 11, 2025, from Monday to Friday, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in a meditative exploration of transformation and continuity, where form, space, and motion converge in a delicate equilibrium. Flores Abad, an artist whose visual language has evolved through years of experimentation and reflection, engages with themes that transcend geographical and temporal boundaries, delving into the fluid relationships between matter and spirit, identity and memory, permanence and change. His work, composed of organic shapes, flowing contours, and translucent layers of color, evokes both the physical landscapes of Ecuador and the metaphysical terrain of human perception, suggesting that existence itself is a state of constant flux. Within the Embassy’s luminous halls, each piece seems to breathe, oscillating between presence and absence, inviting contemplation rather than consumption.
The installation transforms the diplomatic space into an intimate sanctuary of thought and emotion — a place where art becomes a bridge connecting different worlds, perspectives, and sensibilities. Beyond its aesthetic value, “La forma en el flujo” also reflects the Embassy’s ongoing mission to foster dialogue between Ecuador and Germany through culture, recognizing that art, as a universal language, holds the power to transcend political and linguistic boundaries. In this sense, the exhibition participates in a broader conversation about Latin American creativity and its growing resonance in Europe, underscoring how artists from the region contribute to a more inclusive and plural global art scene. For Berlin — a city long admired for its cultural openness and history of reinvention — the arrival of Flores Abad’s work adds a new layer to its mosaic of international voices.
Through the Embassy’s initiative, Ecuadorian art steps into the European spotlight not as an exotic curiosity but as an active, dynamic expression of contemporary thought, revealing the intersections between tradition and innovation, local identity and universal vision. Admission to “La forma en el flujo” is free of charge, and visitors are warmly encouraged to attend and experience firsthand this remarkable dialogue between Ecuadorian artistic heritage and Berlin’s cosmopolitan energy; additional information and updates can be found on the official website of the Embassy of Ecuador in Germany.
