Diplomacy Crossing Borders: From The Netherlands to Germany
Today, Steinmeier’s Dutch counterpart has made the move East to visit Berlin and engage in talks on a range of current political issues across the globe.
News from Berlin. Hailed an “old friend and colleague”, Steinmeier has today met Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Frans Timmerman, to continue their work in a trustworthy collaboration spanning years.
As well as discussion on topics of direct German and Dutch interest the Ministers also spoke of items on the global agenda.
Europe and European immigration remain high on the agenda for discussion. The situation in Ukraine and the conference in Geneva on Syria will also be spoken about in addition to the offer of Ukraine’s current Prime Minister to resign.
Steinmeier expressed his hope that the resignation of the Ukrainian Prime Minister may signal the possibility of finding political compromise.
