The Days of Jewish Culture, a beloved annual tradition in Berlin, will return in 2024 to once again offer a vibrant celebration of modern Jewish life through music, cinema, and literature. This cultural festival, organized by the Jewish Community of Berlin, has been a cornerstone of the city’s cultural scene since its inception in 1987, when it was launched as part of the 750th anniversary celebrations of Berlin's founding. Over the years, it has evolved into a "cultural must" for both the Jewish community and Berliners at large, providing an insightful introduction to Jewish culture and life in Germany today.

Under the artistic direction of cultural manager Abraham Toubiana, and in collaboration with Sara Nachama, Head of Cultural Affairs for the Jewish Community, the 2024 festival will present a colorful and diverse program that reflects the many facets of Jewish culture. Each year, the festival is dedicated to a different theme, expressed through theatrical performances, readings, discussions, exhibits, and concerts featuring outstanding performers from around the world. Past themes have explored the cultural significance of cities like Vienna, Odessa, New York, Paris, and Tel Aviv, as well as historical periods like the “Roaring Twenties.” In 2008, the focus was on the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel.

This year’s program promises an eclectic mix of jazz, soul, pop, rock, world music, synagogue music, classical performances, comics, literature, lectures, and public worship services. These offerings not only celebrate the richness of Jewish heritage but also provide a welcoming space for both Jewish and non-Jewish visitors to immerse themselves in the cultural tapestry of Jewish life. Through these diverse events, the Days of Jewish Culture continue to strengthen their role as a bridge between communities, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Jewish culture in Berlin and beyond.
