Czech Embassy Cinema Hosts “MONUMENT” Interactive Comedy Performance

On July 21, 2026, the Czech Embassy Cinema in Kensington hosted MONUMENT: An Interactive One-Woman Comedy Show, organized by the Czech Centre London—the official cultural arm of the Embassy of the Czech Republic. Bringing together diplomats, theatre enthusiasts, and members of the European diaspora, the evening utilized satirical performance art to engage audiences in discussions about public memory, shared history, and modern European identity.
Conceived and performed by Polish-British artist Margot Przymierska, the interactive show drew direct inspiration from the history of Prague’s former massive Stalin Monument. Blending rap, stand-up comedy, and physical theatre, the production used the concept of grand public monuments as a springboard to question power dynamics, political mythmaking, and how societies choose to remember or dismantle their pasts.
