Lia de Itamaracá is an indispensable figure in ciranda, a type of music and dance that is a significant part of the rich cultural heritage of the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. A fusion of Christian and pagan elements, ciranda uses oral tradition to create bonds between generations and has transformed into a powerful musical force.

Lia de Itamaracá immersed herself in the world of ciranda at a young age and continued to hone her skills in dance circles. Although her first album dates back to 1977, it was not until 2002, with the release of "Eu Sou Lia," that the artist received well-deserved recognition, which led to international tours. Her most recent work, "Ciranda Sem Fim," produced by DJ Dolores, is a celebration of ciranda that incorporates both the essence of the past and the promise of the future of the genre.

The concert with Lia de Itamaracá will take place in Berlin at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt on Saturday, July 20 at 8:30 PM.
