Charangofest is the outcome of the work of a group of independent musicians, artists and cultural managers who proposed the idea of organising the first collective concert of the charango under the name Charangofest. The charango, an emblematic instrument of Andean music, is known for its sweet and melancholic sound that has conquered millions of people around the world. And now, thanks to the Charangofest, this instrument will have its own cultural and musical recognition, in the first edition of the festival, scheduled for 28 June, 2024 in Vienna.

The passion for music and, in particular, for the charango, one of the most emblematic instruments of the Latin American culture, has led to the creation of an event that aims to disseminate and promote this beautiful instrument internationally, in the city of Vienna, a historical capital and musical centre of Central Europe, and to bring together Charanguistas representing different styles to a meeting to inspire and share their talent.

For this first edition, seven performers from Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Austria will be presented, with traditional and contemporary themes and their own compositions for charango. The festival has brought together renowned Charanguistas such as Alejo Cruz Paulino (Bolivia), César Aguilar Alcedo (Peru), Julio Mendívil (Peru), Max León Gutierrez (Peru), Pedro Hernandez Titi (Chile) and Sebastian Sciaraffia (Chile).

Visitors will be able to enjoy not only traditional live music, but also a unique exhibition of Charangos. Lectures and conferences will also be held on this wonderful instrument, its history and development.
