Supported by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin organizes a series of events to celebrate Chinese culture and the Chinese New Year.

The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, is the most significant traditional event in China that celebrates the beginning of a new year. According to the Chinese calendar, 2019 is regarded as the "Year of the Pig" and thus symbolizes prosperity, happiness and fortune.

The festival is a special occasion, traditionally marked by family gatherings, food rituals and fireworks. Many European cities, including Berlin are also welcoming the Chinese New Year with traditional music, dance, including the famous lion and dragon dances and parades.

Participating in the celebrations, which will take place at Potsdamer Platz, is a unique chance to get a deeper insight into the ancient Chinese tradition, dating back 4000 years.
