Bilateral Cooperation Paves the Way for Digitalization at the Forum Latvian-German Synergy

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs calls for closer collaboration between national municipalities

The forum "Latvian-German Synergy: The Driving Force of Digital Transformation" was held at the Representation of Bremen in Berlin on October 14, 2024. Providing a platform to reflect on Latvia’s achievements in digital transformation, the event aimed to strengthen cooperation between Latvian and German municipalities. More than 190 participants, including members of the Bundestag, ministries, municipal authorities from both countries, and other distinguished guests, gathered to discuss the role of digital transition and information technology in public governance.

The guest of honour, President Edgars Rinkēvičs, underscored the significant role of German municipalities in the process of Latvian transatlantic integration and post-independence development. In the meantime, the German Minister of Digital Affairs and Transport Volker Wissing noted that all Baltic states exemplify effective electronic governance solutions and welcomed Latvia's participation in the Smart Country Convention.

In addition, Bremen Mayor Andreas Bovenschulte called for celebration of the close partnership between Bremen and Riga, which is set to commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2025. The forum also featured discussions on artificial intelligence and smart mobility solutions, addressing common challenges and advancing digital transformation in both nations.
