The French Institute in Berlin turns Black and White

The two month long exhibition will take place at the French Institute in Berlin, whether you’re just discovering or rediscovering French photography then this is sure to amaze you.

News from Berlin. After a great concert opening on January 16, in the presence of Renaud Monfourny and David Lemaitre, the exhibition will take place until March 16.

Famous photograph from “Les Inrockuptibles”, a French rock magazine, Renaud Monfourny captures, since the eighties, the most famous international writers, directors, musicians and artists.

Marguerite Duras, Lou Reed, Nick Cave portraits are part of this “impressive collection of figures and alive ghosts” as described by the French Institute.

A unique opportunity to discover or rediscover, in black and white, the faces of these illustrious personalities.

Since its opening, in 1950, the French Institute of Berlin has welcomed hundreds of thousands visitors and some of the most famous intellectuals of the 20th century from Raymond Aron to Jean-Paul Sartre and Ionesco. Two thousand Berliners learn French there each year. Unfortunately, the institute is threatened with closure due to budget cuts. The exhibition is made in cooperation with La Brasserie Le Paris and the Hôtel Concorde.

The exhibition, which is a “Franco-Berlinoise” selection, offers thirty portraits. The opportunity to see Wim Wenders and Michel Houellebecq, but also to visit the Institute and its cinema before its likely closure.
