Berlin Fashion Week x 30 Years Tokyo-Berlin

The Japanese-German Center launches a special event for Berlin Fashion Week

The fashion label SUSUMU AI will visit The Japanese-German Center during Berlin Fashion Week for a special event celebrating 30 years of friendship between the two countries.

Berlin and Tokyo officially became friendship cities in May 1994, with a joint declaration by the Governing Mayor of Berlin and the Governor of Tokyo.

In 2024, 30 years of friendship are celebrated.

This occasion enters the program of Berlin Fashion Week, as the Japanese-German Center in Berlin will host a satellite event on the 1st of July on the topic “Fashion - 30 Years Partner Cities Tokyo-Berlin”.

There will be a special guest: The Japanese-German label SUSUMU AI. Its creative director and designer, Alisa Menkhaus, will have a panel during the event to provide deeper insight into the merge of German and Japanese fashion trends.

The other guest speaker will be Dr. Carolin Becke who is an independent researcher on Japanese Arts & Culture from Hamburg.

The agenda also includes a Japanese Foodcourt, a NHK(The Japan Broadcasting Corporation) documentary screening, various workshops and fashion goodies.

The event is open to the public and without registration. It starts at 5pm.
