Aurélien Agbénonci

Aurélin Agbénonci was born on October 20th in Porto Novo, Benin and has been serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation since 2016.
Agbénonci first studied international trade law at the University of Paris X Nanterre, after which he did a second bachelor degree at the University of Dakar in Senegal in institutional development, governance and environmental sciences. He then completed his master degree in Business Law also at the University of Dakar. After his studies Agbénonci began working as a Deputy Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Program between 1996 and 2013 working in Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Rwanda, Congo, and Mali. In 2016 he worked as the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission of the Central African Republic and won an award from the then Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. In 2016 after the election of President Patrice Talon, Aurélien Agbénonci was directly appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Benin.
