On September 23, 2025, the Austrian Cultural Forum London (ACF London), representing the Austrian Embassy in the UK, will host an evening concert titled Pillars of the Cello Repertoire. The performance will feature acclaimed Austrian cellist Jeremias Fliedl alongside the rising British pianist Callum McLachlan, offering a programme designed to highlight the expressive depth and versatility of the cello.

The recital, beginning at 7:00 PM at ACF London’s venue on Rutland Gate, forms part of the celloFORUM 2025 series and complements the masterclass Fliedl will lead the following day. Together, these events provide audiences not only with the chance to hear world-class performance but also to understand the pedagogical process behind it, as London students benefit directly from the artist’s mentorship.

The programme promises a journey through the cello’s most iconic works, from emotionally charged classics to technically demanding showpieces. For the audience, it is both a celebration of Austria’s rich musical tradition and a testament to the dialogue that emerges when Austrian artistry is paired with British talent.

By bringing together Fliedl and McLachlan, the Austrian Embassy underscores the role of its cultural forum as a bridge between nations. Music becomes a form of diplomacy, creating spaces for dialogue that transcend language and politics. The concert also reflects Austria’s broader cultural outreach, which views performance as a tool to deepen understanding and strengthen international ties.

For those in attendance, Pillars of the Cello Repertoire will be more than a concert: it will be an affirmation of the power of classical music to inspire, connect, and embody the mission of cultural diplomacy.
