Argentinian Microtheatre takes the Stage in Vienna
Four short plays explore life’s complexities through comedy
April 03rd, 2025FROM APRIL 2ND TO 4TH, THE ARGENTINIAN EMBASSY IN AUSTRIA, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE INSTITUTO CERVANTES OF VIENNA, PRESENTS HABER EMPEZADO POR AHÍ, A MICROTHEATRE EVENT FEATURING FOUR SHORT PLAYS BY ACCLAIMED PLAYWRIGHTS. THE PERFORMANCES, LED BY THE THEATRE GROUP SOLES DEL SUR, ARE ORGANIZED AS PART OF THE EMBASSY’S CULTURAL PROGRAM AND WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE INSTITUTO CERVANTES DE VIENA - PALAIS WIENER VON WELTEN.
Haber Empezado por Ahí features works by Argentinian playwrights Claudio Rogis (32 minutos 15 segundos and ¿Estoy muerto?) and Claudia Piñeiro (¿Cuánto vale una heladera?), alongside Spanish playwright Carlos Zamarriego (De la Azotea). These plays, each lasting approximately 15 minutes, explore everyday dilemmas through a unique blend of humor and introspection.
The performances are brought to life by the theatre group Soles del Sur. One of the highlights of the event is De la Azotea, starring Sonia Maffei, a member of the group since 2019. The play humorously portrays a conversation between two individuals who, for very different reasons, find themselves on a rooftop contemplating a drastic decision. Their debate turns a dark premise into an absurd yet thought-provoking comedy.
With free admission and limited seating, Haber Empezado por Ahí offers a unique opportunity to experience the power of microtheatre in an intimate setting. Those interested can reserve their spots by contacting prensaviena@cervantes.es.
Bringing together acclaimed playwrights and talented performers, this microtheatre event—supported by the Argentinian Embassy and the Instituto Cervantes—invites audiences to enjoy a compelling fusion of Argentinian and Spanish theatre.
