A Glimpse Inside Van Gogh’s Madness and Wonder
An immersive exhibition in Berlin that brings the artist’s final years vividly to life
March 24th, 2026Berlin’s art scene welcomes a striking new immersive experience: Vincent – Between Madness and Wonder, an exhibition that invites visitors to step into the final creative years of Vincent van Gogh. Running at the Khroma | New Media Art Center on the RAW‑Gelände, the show combines large‑scale projections, original letters and atmospheric sound to recreate the painter’s inner world and iconic works in motion.
More than a traditional display of paintings, Vincent – Between Madness and Wonder uses 360‑degree projections, multimedia installations and immersive design to transport audiences through van Gogh’s last creative period, spanning his time in Arles, Saint‑Rémy and Auvers‑sur‑Oise between 1888 and 1890. Visitors encounter familiar masterpieces like Starry Night and Sunflowers enveloped by light and sound, bringing color and emotion to life on up to ten‑metre wide surfaces.
At the heart of the exhibition is the relationship between van Gogh and his brother Theo, whose extensive correspondence provides a narrative thread through the immersive environment. More than one hundred original letters, rich with thoughts, doubts and hopes, offer insight into the artist’s struggles and drive, helping audiences understand the human story behind the luminous brushwork.
The experience integrates visual spectacle with a curated soundtrack and ambient design, creating a setting where visitors can move freely through the exhibition space, absorb van Gogh’s vision and feel the emotional intensity of his final years. The show aims to appeal not only to fans of the Dutch master but to anyone curious about the intersection of art, emotion and technology.
Vincent – Between Madness and Wonder runs daily and continues to draw visitors eager to engage with van Gogh’s genius in an entirely new way. By blending art history with immersive technology, the exhibition offers a vivid reflection on creativity, struggle and the enduring impact of one of the most influential artists in Western art.
