From December 9 to 11, 2024, an international conference titled "A Decade of War - When and How the Russian War Against Ukraine Might End?" brought together leading experts, policymakers, and academics to mark the 10th anniversary of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. Held in Lower Saxony, the event provided a critical platform for examining the interim outcomes of the conflict and envisioning potential scenarios for its resolution.

The three-day conference hosted 65 participants, including members of the German Bundestag, Nico Lange from the Munich Security Conference, and scholars from institutions like the Atlantic Council, Georgetown University, and the London School of Economics. Discussions delved into the military dynamics of the battlefield, the influence of upcoming U.S. and German elections on Ukraine policy, and the role of Ukrainian civil society in sustaining resistance. The forum also addressed pressing concerns such as combating war fatigue and enhancing international support for Ukraine, all under the Chatham House Rule to encourage open dialogue.

Jointly organized by the German-Ukrainian Bureau (DUB) in Düsseldorf and the Protestant Academy Loccum, with co-funding from the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, the event underscored the urgency of resolving Europe’s most devastating conflict in decades. By fostering cross-sector collaboration and professional analysis, the conference highlighted Germany’s pivotal role in shaping Ukraine’s future and the global pursuit of peace.
