70 Years of Indonesian Culture in Vienna
Vienna celebrated 70 years of diplomatic relations with Indonesia with festivities in Maria Theresien Platz and Heldenplatz
June 07th, 2024Austria and Indonesia celebrated 70 years of diplomatic relations on the 1st of June in Maria Theresien Platz and Heldenplatz in Vienna.
Dr. Damos Dumoli Agusman from the Indonesian Embassy in Vienna had prepared a special program to embark on Indonesian culture, art, and religion.
Many artists had come directly from Indonesia or more specifically, the federal states of Achen, West Sumatra, West Java, Bali, East Kalimantes, South Sulawesi and West Papua.
Indonesia is an archipelago consisting of over 17 500 islands which makes it one of the biggest countries in the world. Also, in no other country in the world do so many religions coincide peacefully as in Indonesia. That is why the celebration in Vienna had a special focus on religion.
The visitors had 60 minutes in Maria Theresien Platz and then 60 minutes in Heldenplatz to enjoy a mixture of Indonesian music and dance.
Consul Ricky Ichsan from the Indonesian embassy in Vienna was in charge of the event. Diplomats from Austria and Indonesia had worked together thoroughly to organize it and celebrate the 70 years of relations between the two states.
