The Ambassador has been Minister of State since 2018; Throughout his career he successfully completed a number of programs at various military institutions. He was a certified pilot instructor by way of the British Royal Air Force from 1981 to 1999 and a Military Attaché to the United Kingdom from 1990 to 2000, that same year he became member of the Planning High Council, until 2005 and in the same period he was Chief of The Amiri Diwan of the State of Qatar. From 2001 to 2006 he was member of the Planning Council Founding Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the North Atlantic College in Qatar from. He was Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Investment Authority and Member of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment from 2014 to 2017, and deputy Chairman of the board of Directors of Qatar National Bank (QNB) from 2014 to 2018. Furthermore from 2000 since 2020 he’s been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ooredoo Group, to become Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany from 11.11.2020.

The political relations of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Germany have traditionally been good and have further improved through continuous high-level diplomatic visits: Chancellor Merkel visited Doha in the first half of 2010, in the second half of that year Hamad bin khalifa Al Thani came on state visit to Germany.

In April 2013, former Qatar Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani visited Berlin, in June 2013, the former German Foreign Minister Westerwelle traveled to Qatar for the Fourth time. The Qatari Foreign Minister Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyad visited Berlin last in August 2013 and in March 2014. Due to Qatar’s dedicated foreign policy, the country is an important partner for Germany. In 2013, Germany and Qatar celebrated the 40th anniversary of their bilateral Relations.
