News from Berlin –  The 26th edition of the Tanz im August festival (August 15-30), organised by HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, will present twenty-one dance companies and choreographers from 14 different countries, 3 installations, talks, labs and several workshops.

The most famous dance festival in Berlin will feature over 60 performances during the entire period and will take place at ten different venues in Berlin, and is dedicated to supporting and presenting international contemporary dance works that are open to experiments and innovation within the field.  The works presented will reflect the current trends and developments in the international contemporary dance scene, from Europe to Asia, Africa and North America.

The festival presents the vision of contemporary artists of different backgrounds and generations, from the well-established to the young and promising artists. There will also be an opportunity for more intimate encounters with dancers and choreographers, a platform for coaching and mentoring projects for young artists, as well as lectures and debates, in which the audience is invited to exchange ideas and practices.

Venues: HAU Hebbel am Ufer (HAU1–3), Sophiensäle, Berliner Festspiele, Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz, Schinkel Pavillon (outdoors), Theater an der Parkaue, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz; project space Braennen.
