South African Ambassador’s Work in Berlin

Ambassador delivers speech focusing on the progress made by the South African Embassy in Berlin to strengthen relations with the country

During the Budget Vote Speech of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, on July 11th 2019, South African Deputy Minister Alvin Botes has underlined the meaningful actions taken by the South African Ambassador Sizani.

The speech given by Alvin Botes concerned South Africa's foreign policy and its future priorities; the Deputy Minister drew the attention on the networking between Germany and the African country, in order to unlock its economic potential and enhance South Africa’s growth. He also mentioned the concrete result achieved by their economic diplomacy, which “has resulted in the increase of South Africa’s exports from R125m in 2017 to R133m in 2018”.

Moreover, Mr Botes pointed out the commitment and the devotion of H. E. Ambassador Phumelele Stone Sizani, whose actions have been particularly relevant in order to achieve some of the goals that the government had set. Regarding to South Africa’s untapped resources, such as maritime transport, the Ambassador has attended the conference on “Blue Economy on Africa’s growth” held in Berlin on June 13th 2019.
