Alie Kabba
Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation
Alie Kabba is an innovative and effective executive leader with over 20 years of professional experience in public policy analysis and administration, management and evaluation, strategic planning and development, and program design and implementation.
Prior to his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, he served as Executive Director of the Chicago-based United African Organization and Public Service Administrator in the State of Illinois, USA.
While at the helm of UAO, he provided overall strategic direction in fiscal and programmatic domain, legislative advocacy, as well as research and technical coordination. During his tenure, he transformed it into a vibrant organization that is recognized across America today as a strong voice for social justice and equal opportunity for Africans and other minority groups.
As Public Service Administrator in the State of Illinois, he managed about $400 million annually in block grant funding from the US Department of Health and Human Services to support a statewide energy assistance programme through thirty-five local administering agencies.
His multidisciplinary background in history, philosophy, political science and public policy analysis has shaped his strategic thinking and direction throughout his career in public service.
Alie Kabba is the recipient of several awards in recognition of his distinguished leadership roles in multiple civic arenas, including Board President of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, Chairman of the Golden Door Coalition, Board President of the Chicago Access Network Television, Co-Chair of the Faith and Justice Leadership Alliance, and Leadership Fellow at the Chicago Community Trust
Born on 24 September 1961 in the Eastern region of Sierra Leone, his childhood experience laid a strong foundation for his deep sense of patriotism and commitment to public service, as well as the enduring values of inclusion, tolerance and faith.
