Secretary of State Mike Pompeo asked the representatives of some of the world’s most influential energy and oil companies to join the government in promoting U.S. foreign policy interests and in punishing “bad actors”.

In his speech, Pompeo tried to sway oil executives to work together with the United States to bring economic prosperity to the world and provide economic growth and security. However, what this cooperation would mean is oil companies supporting the Trump administration’s energy dominance approach by advancing diplomatic and political relationships through expanding U.S. oil and gas exports.

Pompeo believes the United States is an example of successful government that was able to work its way up to being a global economic power thanks to its system based on free trade, good laws, and capitalism. Moreover, he stated the newly found shale oil and abundance of natural oil would only strengthen America’s position as a key global player.
