Promoting Emilia-Romagna’s food in Germany
The Embassy of Italy hosted an event to promote Emilia-Romagna on the German market

“A Taste of Italy: Emilia-Romagna’s Food Valley meets Berlin” was organized on the 11th of November 2019 by the Italian Embassy in Berlin. During the event, Emilia-Romagna’s food specialties were presented alongside cultural and economic initiatives.
The event started with a workshop based on the consumption and the purchase of authentic Italian food, moderated by Mr. Rodolfo Dolce, the Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany. The second workshop was about the Mediterranean diet and healthy lifestyle choices. After the workshops, there was a film screening of “Don’t be afraid of the night” directed by Marco Cassini. The film reports a story about common people, families and workers, during the earthquake which hit Emilia-Romagna on 20th and 29th May 2012. At the end of the event was the opening ceremony of the food tasting by the President of Emilia-Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini. In addition to the dinner, there was a photo exhibition held by “Casa Artusi” about Mr. Pellegrino Artusi, who is acknowledged as the father of modern Italian cookery.
This event organized by the Italian Embassy in Berlin in collaboration with Emilia Romagna aims to strengthen the lasting political and economic relations between Italy and Germany. According to Mr. Stafano Francia, president of AGIA CIA or the Italian Agriculture Association, Germany is the largest European trading partner for Italy; so fostering intercultural dialogue and economic relations between these two partners is a priority for the Italian government. These two countries historically have strong political, cultural and economic connections, and the Italian Embassy, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, is engaged in improving and developing these relations in the future. This event entitled “A Taste of Italy: Emilia-Romagna’s Food Valley meets Berlin” is another piece of the puzzle at the foundation of German-Italian diplomatic dialogue. At the end of these celebrations focused on Emilia-Romagna’s work in Germany, another upcoming event concerning Italian culture, the True Italian Pasta Week, was promoted.
