Portugal and Germany Strengthen Cultural and Literary Relations as Lisbon-born Writer, Miguel Cardoso, wins Berlin Residency Scholarship coordinated by the Embassy of Portugal in Berlin

After Patricia Portela, Rui Cardoso Martins and Isabela Figueiredo, Miguel Cardoso is the selected author and winner for the Berlin Residential Scholarship.

Started in 2016, the Berlin Literary Residency Scholarship has been a part of the international outreach program structured by the Portuguese Embassy and Camões Berlin cultural center. The program´s framework is based on cultural diplomacy between Portugal and Germany through the annual external cultural action plan, coordinated by both the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture.

Miguel Cardoso teaches, translates and writes in Lisbon, where he was born in 1976. He spent some years in London and returned to Portugal. He is a member of the Unipop collective and contributor to Imprópria magazine. Has poems, essays and other texts published in various anthologies and periodicals.

Several public readings were scheduled during the residency in October, including the participation in the Book Fair of Frankfurt and in Berlin he will be working on a project that will have the city as a living, everyday collection from which he will constitute the literary subject. The project explores the points of contact between the literary and the documentary.
