News from Berlin - Over the past few years Indian Cinema has gained quite a prominence in Germany and especially Berlin. In fact this year at the Berlinale, there were ten different Indian films that were screened for thousands of viewers that included feature films, short films, classics as well as documentaries. Recognizing this growing popularity of Indian Cinema, the Indian Embassy has taken upon itself to organize various events and movie viewings.

This week, the Embassy is organizing a lecture on Indian Cinema on June 5th, 2014 which will be delivered by Professor Samnik Bandopadhyay, a renowned expert on Indian Cinema presently holding a Guest Professor Chair at the Freie Universität in Berlin. The lecture will be delivered in English and will be followed by a short question and answer session. The lecture will take place in the Auditorium of the Indian Embassy located in the Tiergarten.

Moreover, the popular film Guzaarish will be screened in German at the Embassy on 16th June 16, 2014 as well. It tells the moving story of a man who does not lose faith in the beauty of life even as he confronts death and stars the superstars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai.
