United Nation´s Development Program will work closely with the Government of Ghana

Acting Resident Representative of the UN pledged close cooperation when negotiating with the Ghanaian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration

The meeting of Gita Honwana Welch, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programe (UNDP), and Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey in Accra on January 28, 2019 confirmed the support of Ghanaian development policies.

In particular the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was discussed. Furthermore Welch informed the Minister about ongoing reforms at the United Nations which took effect from January 2019. The UNDP was repositioned as an integrator to facilitate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while contributing significantly to the efforts of the UN Development System for sustainable development.

In addittion, the Minister expressed gratitude to the UNDP for its ongoing effort to reduce inequality around the world. Botchwey also congirmed, that the Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration is open to any kind of assistance, which will be beneficial to its citizens.
