The Potsdam Palace Night is dedicated to Italy with the motto "Una Notte Italiana". Not only the Italian inspired architecture of the unique grounds and palaces of the Sanssouci world cultural heritage will be enhanced with lovingly designed light installations, but the motto also invites to a diversified Italian cultural programme. This will include Commedia dell‘Arte, sumptuous masks and costumes, a venetian gondola which will float close to the Roman Baths with Italian live music on the so-called Engine Pond as well as innumerable multi-faceted performances including a light and laser show with background music twice an evening. Strolling and enjoying – with all the senses.

Frederick II and Frederick William IV were once inspired by Italian architecture, adapted it for the cityscape, parks and castles and decorated their palaces with baroque sculptures and paintings. During the Potsdam Palace Night in August this year, this Italian tradition will be highlighted and staged in an opulent form that has never before been offered to visitors.

2018, due to the aridity and associated governmental orders, the planned fireworks had to be transformed into a light spectacle consisting of music, illuminations, projections and lasers. As this was very well received by the visitors, not only preventive but also with regard to sustainability and environmental protection is already being planned for a brilliant light spectacle, which will take place twice on both evenings.

The readings under the motto "Quiet tones, striking voices, exciting stories" with prominent voices from the film and television world. The organizers are also pleased that television presenter, actor and author Max Moor remains loyal to the event and will continue to act as patron of the literary program in 2019.

Potsdam Palace Night will be held from 16th till 17th August 2019 in Potsdam.
