The Embassy of Ireland is excited to introduce a festival filled with young Irish creativity which will take place in Berlin in November 2018.

The Visual Arts Award 2018 intends to celebrate and showcase the work of young Irish artists which work in Berlin and all over Germany. The Festival for 2018 will particularly focus on music and literature. During the festival, an exhibition of works by Irish visual artists will be displayed in the Irish Embassy.

Irish visual artists who want to take part in the event are invited to submit entries to take part in this exhibition by the 15th of June 2018. The contest is open to all Irish artists currently living or working in Germany: you just need to feel young in order to participate!

At the end of the competition, five works will be selected for exhibition by a panel including Seán Kissane, Curator of Exhibitions at IMMA, and Dr. Katja Blomberg who is the director of Haus am Waldsee. Each of the selected five artists will receive €200 in recognition of their work. One final grand prize winner will receive a cash prize of €1000 which will be sponsored by the German Irish Culture Society. All visual media forms are accepted, but the scale and format of works submitted should be appropriate for exhibition at the Embassy. Visual artists should also be aware that it may not be possible to keep all sculpture and installation pieces on display during the entire exhibition. Artists will have to arrange for the transport of their works to and from the Embassy.

Further details about the Festival will be announced in the summer. In the meantime, it is possible to find further information, as well as details about the submission of entries for inclusion, at this link:
