Located at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin, the Marshall McLuhan Salon gives visitors a chance to learn about Canadian culture through state-of-the-art multimedia equipment.

As a pioneer in the field of media theory, Canadian intellectual Marshall McLuhan is arguably best remembered for coining the phrase "the medium is the message".  He is also the namesake of a state-of-the-art multimedia information centre at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin which gives visitors the chance learn about Canada's rich and diverse culture.

The salon is a learning centre which allows visitors to discover the current and past cultural undertakings of Canadians.  The salon features a number of different presentation units such as interactive video screens and maps, info terminals and workstations for individual research, making it a veritable "one-stop shop" for anyone wishing to learn about Canada or the endeavors of its citizens.

Visitors have access to videos about various topics about Canada such as its history, its celebrated multiculturalism, its geography as well as Canadians' contributions to academics and the performing arts.  There is also information relating to Canada's current foreign policy initiatives.

In addition, special events taking place in Canada are shown through live-streams and television broadcasts in an environment that is both comfortable and stylish.

The Marshall McLuhan Salon, located at Leipziger Platz 17 (near the Potsdamer Platz U-Bahn station) is open to the public on Fridays from 12:00 to 17:00 although educational tours can also be booked for larger groups from Monday to Thursday.  Admission is free of charge.
