The German Development Bank KfW invests in the Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP)

An investment to help Malawi escape extreme Poverty

The Social Cash Transfer Program exists to provide the basic needs of the poorest families in Malawi, East Africa.

The Social Cash Transfer Programme provides unconditional cash transfer payments to the ten percent of households that are considered to be “ultra-poor”. The process of selection is based on individual data collection surveys and formula-based assessment.

The German Development Bank KfW has been investing in the Social Cash Transfer Programme for ten years and have drastically helped families in Malawi.  This investment allowed for poor families to receive basic needs such as food, water, clothing, and housing. The German Development Bank have also supported families in creating their own livelihood.
