French Entreprises Meet German Start-Ups

Learning Expedition Berlin 2015, a great meeting between French enterprises and German start-ups

Between March 23rd and March 25th, the French Embassy in Berlin held a three-day meeting with 30 big and popular French enterprises and 40 German start-ups. The purpose of the event was both to introduce the German start-up’s system and innovation and to explore innovative solutions for the ‘Smart City’ cooperation.

The small and medium sized French enterprises that were present at the event were all members of the "Club Open Innovation", an initiative that promotes business cooperation between startups and large companies with an innovative approach. The organizations members have more than 60 big enterprises, both French and international. Paris&Co, an economic development agency operating in Paris, is in charge of the Club Open Innovation, where on one hand it deals with the promotion of Paris and the French system abroad, and on the other, it supports and encourages international enterprises that wish to settle down in Paris.

The event offered German companies the opportunity to present their solutions to some major French companies that are searching for potential partnerships. Among these companies were major players in various sectors, with a combined turnover of 600 billion euros. Those that took part in the Learning Expedition include ADP, Air Liquide, Airbus, Alcatel Onetouch, Allianz/Mondial Assistance, ATOS, Auchan, Diam International, Edenred, EDF, ERDF, Faurecia, Gemalto, Groupe Bouygues, Groupe Chèque Déjeuner, groupe SEB, Institut Gustave Roussy, le groupe la Poste, Lagardere, la RATP, Safran, SNCF, Total, Transdev, SETEC, JCDecaux.

The theme of the event was Smart City. Smart City Berlin believes that ‘Berlin is Smart’. “The city is a lab for everything we aspire for the urban life in the 21st century: efficient infrastructure, informational networking, environmentally friendly mobility, creativity and the combination of high efficiency and high quality of life. The three-day event saw many conferences, meetings, field visits and talks take place with businesses that are particularly dedicated to Smart-City-Related-Themes. Among these companies were Big Data, Smart home, Energy efficiency, Urban Mobility, Robotics, Open data, Digital Media, Smart office, Health, E-commerce and Networked City.
